San Gorgonio Outdoor Science School, is a non-profit organization working under the umbrella of Charitable Ventures of Orange County. The founding members of San Gorgonio Outdoor Science School are experienced educators and retired classified employees of Orange County Department of Education Outdoor Science School and Anaheim City School District. The decision to become a non-profit was based on the need to provide this life enriching experience for all students. Our founding members have ninety plus years of combined experience working for outdoor science school programs, allowing us to provide the highest quality program within a safe learning environment.
The curriculum emphasizes science concepts and social skills that are structured to an outdoor setting. The science curriculum is aligned with California State Science Standards for fifth and sixth grades. It correlates with next generation Science Standards and supports STEM principles.
The site for our program is Camp Arbolado, owned by the Whittier YMCA. It is at an elevation of approximately 6,500 feet, in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. Camp Arbolado’s area for busses has a wide turn around. Selection of staff members for the science school is based on their experience, background checks, and education. There will be a ratio of 1 adult to 11 students. We employ a registered nurse. Liability Insurance will be in place for the protection of your district and the students.
Because we are a non-profit program, we are able to offer a low cost four day program. Please email us to secure a spot and price information. We are also available to meet with administrators, principles, and teachers, at your request, to discuss any issues or questions you may have.
We look forward to hearing from you.
